[The video feed flickers on and displays her looking intently at it with a soft hum before she speaks.]

Oh- oh, I did something to it. Something happened.. Angel I don't know what .. maybe you should push it now.

Yes, try that button –– oh, what did it do now? [consequently nothing.] Oh, well, I don't know what this is. Maybe it plays music like that one machine that.. oh - oh - record player. Yes, maybe it does that.

Oh no! [Angel begins hopping on it then hops off as Fluttershy comes close to nudge her nose at the dreamberry.] No, you mustn't do that, we don't know who this belongs to. We have to be gentle. Yes, Angel, gentle.

[Omi is briefly surprised, but then his eyes soften. He knows timid body language when he sees it. He smiles and drops his volume a notch.]

Yes-- yours. Everyone gets one on coming here. Did you just arrive?

Most people call this city Somni, and the village in the middle is Espoir. The device you've gotten is called a Dreamberry. It's a good way of talking to others, like we are now. It might seem a little complicated in the beginning, but you'll get used to it.

[He offers a small, singular nod to show his acknowledgment.]

My name's Omi. What do you go by?

[Omi blinks, needing a couple of moments to realize the pony has misunderstood his question-- it was pretty cute in retrospect, actually. Well, she answered the question in the end anyway, so there's no need to call attention to it.]

Fluttershy? That's a pretty name. You like living a bit further from town then? There are some nice forested areas around Espoir's perimeter. It might be the most comfortable place for you.

Ah... thank you.

The difficult thing is... we don't actually choose when we wake up from here. I'm afraid we're a little stuck. It is true there's no way to know how long you'll be here; some go back after only a month or two. Others have been here more than two years.

Because of the nature of this situation, everyone understands that visitors like us need a place to stay until that time we leave. Even if the time ends up being short, it's all right to make your home anywhere you're comfortable.

[Omi's quite sympathetic to that feeling. Whether out of a sense of need to be back for responsibilities and commitments or out of simple homesickness, the lack of control over when one returned home could be at once frustrating, unnerving and heartbreaking.]

I'm sorry. No one has found a way for people to choose when they return. It's possible you'll see familiar faces; you aren't the first talking pony I've met. In the meantime, it seems to make the transition easiest if you find ways to mirror your routine and lifestyle from home. What sorts of things do you enjoy?

[Three seconds of silence.]

All right. Here's what you should do: make a comfortable home for yourself near the local animals. You can take one of the empty cottages in the village, or you can live outside if you like. Keep an eye on the stream of announcements and public calls that go out on your Dreamberry. If one of your friends from home shows up, that will be the fastest way to know.

I know that no one can replace those friends that you miss. But there are many nice and friendly people here that can make their absences a little easier to bear. You seem like a sweet individual. I don't think you'll have trouble drawing those people to you.

[It's a touching thing for her to say. His expression warms to reflect the compliment.]

I hope it's been helpful for you. Everything will be all right, ok?

[One last smile. She seems to need all the encouragement she can get.]

Good luck.

[And he ends the call.]
